Philadelphia, PA is the fifth largest and one of the oldest cities in the USA. The conference site is Houston Hall, www.perelmanquad.com, at the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League school founded by Benjamin Franklin. It is steeped in history having both the first medical school in the country and a world renowned museum of anthropology and archeology. Participants and spouses will have no shortage of places to see and things to do, all within easy reach of the conference site. These include Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and the new Constitution Center – see the Philadelphia Convention Center and visitors Bureau, www.philadelphiausa.travel.
Philadelphia International Airport, which is only five miles from city center, is serviced by most major airlines and is a hub for US Airways. Road and rail travel are equally convenient. This conference is co-sponsored by the Laboratory for Research on the Structure of matter, University of Pennsylvania.
